Cabaret Festival 2006 |

The
Adelaide Cabaret Festival is unique,
capturing the whole gamut of cabaret,
from the bierkellers of Weimar Germany
to the glitz and glamour of the Las
Vegas casinos. From as far afield as
London, Paris and New York, performers
gather in Adelaide for music, theatre
and song, all under the banner of the
Adelaide Cabaret Festival from 9 to 24
June. The Festival has firmly
established itself, not just in
Adelaide but across Australia as THE
event to attend in the cabaret
calendar.

event sees more than 1,500 vintage
vehicles wind their way through
metropolitan Adelaide and into the
Adelaide Hills. Vehicles built after
1945 and substantially to
manufacturers specifications, are
eligible to take part. Don't miss this
two-hour parade of classic vehicles,
finishing at the National Motor Museum
at Birdwood.

University Games (AUG) has grown to be

university sporting calendar.

2006 - Adelaide Lesbian and Gay
Cultural Festival |

Feast
is Adelaide's lesbian and gay cultural
festival, established in 1997 as a
multi art-form cultural festival,
which has quickly become a major
Australian cultural festival and one
of the top three gay and lesbian
events in Australia. ‘Faerie
Tales’ is the Feast 2006 theme,
providing a platform for the sharing
of old and new stories, myths and
legends. Adelaide is world renowned as
the arts capital of the Southern
Hemisphere and Feast takes the best
from this festival tradition giving it
a twist for the gay, lesbian, bisexual
and transgender community.

Union Christmas Pageant |

Established
in 1933, the Credit Union Christmas
Pageant has grown into one of the
largest pageants of its kind in the
world, boasting 56 festive and
fairytale floats, 14 marching bands,
eight walking sets, three choirs and
more than 900 costumed characters.
More than 350,000 people line the
3.35km route through the heart of
Adelaide.

Adelaide Rally |

Acknowledged
as one of the world's great tarmac
rallies, the Classic Adelaide Rally is
conducted over 1025 kilometres and 34
closed road stages through the
Adelaide Hills and surrounding wine
regions. Entries are limited to cars
manufactured before 1982.

Down Under |

In
2007 the Tour Down Under will run for
the ninth time. This internationally
renowned annual cycling race attracts
cycling superstars from around the
world. In February 2006 it received
Australian Sports Tourism Award of the
year. The event continues to grow in
size and stature, with 495,000
roadside spectators and the imagery of
the event broadcast around the world.
The six-day race features stage starts
and finishes in key locations
throughout Adelaide and regional South

The
World Police & Fire Games is a
spectacular international sporting
event, offering police officers, fire
fighters, correctional services and
customs officers from around the world
an opportunity to showcase their
athletic talents in more than 65
diverse sporting events. Held every
two years, the Games are set to return
to Australia in 2007. Form 16-25 March
2007, Adelaide, South Australia will
host the largest sporting event ever
held in the city with over 15,000
competitors, supporters and officials
from around the world.

Australian Outback Cattle Drive |

The
Great Australian Outback Cattle Drive
is on the move again. Five hundred
head of cattle. Three hundred and
ninety kilometres of desert track. And
a swag of adventure stories along one
of the most evocative desert trails in
Australia - the Oodnadatta Track. 2007
will not only see the third Cattle
Drive, it will see the drovers take
the concept into new and exciting
territory. For five weeks, from May 5
to June 10, they will push the herd
south-east through the Oodnadatta
Track.

Tasting Australia promises nine days

Panasonic World Solar Challenge
participants will traverse more than
3000km of the Australian continent
from tropical Darwin to balmy
Adelaide, in cars powered by nothing
more than the sun. The 'Challenge', to
design and build a car capable of
crossing Australia on the power of
daylight, comprehends the most
innovative research and development of
alternative transport technologies.
Attracting teams and individuals from
corporations and universities all over
the world, the World Solar Challenge
is a celebration of achievement, of
courage and the application of
scientific knowledge in the field of
solar technology.
